      •CONQUERING CHIRONOMIDS CLINIC
-Hosted by Gordon Honey and Phil Rowley-

Chironomids are perhaps the toughest discipline for the stillwater fly fisher to master yet they offer the greatest rewards. Throughout the open water season chironomids are the number one item in the diet of trout in productive stillwaters. To be consistently successful fly-fishing stillwaters fly anglers need to have a complex understanding and knowledge of chironomids. Most fly fishers agree on the importance of this hatch but a disproportionate, small amount feel confident imitating this challenging food source.

Take the mystery out of chironomid fishing. Join outdoor writer, author and angler Phil Rowley and Kamloops fly fishing guide and author Gordon Honey on the water for two full days of chironomid fishing. Participants will understand the chironomid life cycle, habits, fishing strategies, equipment set up and leader design. Students will each spend one on one time with Gord or Phil on the water.

Price per angler: $225.00 (price includes lunch)
Dates: May 4th & 5th, 2003 and May 24th & 25th, 2003.

•FLY PATTERNS FOR STILLWATERS-A Study Of Trout Entomology and Tying
-Philip Rowley-
In Fly Patterns for Stillwaters, Phil Rowley uncovers the riches lakes have to offer the patient angler. Phil has spent countless hours studying the food sources that make up the diet of trout; then set up home aquariums to more closely observe the movement, development, and emergence of these aquatic insects. In this book he explains the link between understanding the food base within a lake and designing effective fly patterns for theses environs. He includes: Chironomids, scuds, damselflies, leeches, mayflies, caddisflies, water boatmen and backswimmers, terrestrials, beetles, forage fish and snails. Each chapter begins with a detailed description of the particular food item outlinning its life cycle, relative importance, size, coloration, and habits, then proven patterns are given, describing both materials and tying techniques. Fly Patterns for Stillwaters will give you the confidence you need to be a successful stillwater angler. Where to get it...
